Learning to Dive

As an affiliated branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club, the Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club Instructor team can teach divers from a complete beginner right up to becoming an advanced diver. All training is carried out according to the highly regarded BSAC Diver Training Programme, and all BSAC qualifications are readily accepted worldwide.

Instruction is provided free-of-charge to all club members - the only cost to members will be the training materials, fees to use any diver training facility and hire fees for protective diving suits. Members learning to dive through the club have free access to training equipment for the duration of their course. Learning through a BSAC club is a very cost effective way of learning to dive and courses are mutually tailored around our busy work/life schedules - this means that the courses will take longer than doing a concentrated commercial course, but that additional time is used to ensure that any skill can be mastered before moving on.

The BSAC starting course is the Ocean Diver course - more information on that course, and more advanced courses, can be seen by selecting the BSAC Diver Training box below. The courses beyond the Ocean Diver qualification can be progressed at a rate controlled by yourself - there is no pressure to advance beyond your comfort level.  Once qualified, there are a whole range of more advanced qualifications and optional skill development courses available to extend your knowledge and skills in the sport. Take a look at the Going Further section for more details. Finally, the club also has regular pool and open-water sessions to help maintain the members skill levels throughout the year. Take a look at Club Training for more information.
