Learning to Dive

As an affiliated branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club, Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club can teach divers from a complete beginner right up to becoming an advanced diver. All training is carried out according to the highly regarded BSAC Diver Training Programme, and all BSAC qualifications are accepted worldwide. Further details of the BSAC diving qualifications and Diver Training Programme can be found on the associated pages - just click the 'BSAC Diver Training' button to the left.

If you are a complete beginner, and don't know whether diving is for you, then why not join us for a 'Try-Dive'. These hour long sessions enable you to have a taster of diving and give you an idea if you might want to take the step and become a diver. The 'Try-Dives' and 'Experience SCUBA' pages will give you more detailed information - just click the buttons on the left.

If you are already a qualified diver, and wish to continue your diver training, if you are not already BSAC qualified, we are able to offer a Cross-Over which effectively transfers your current diving qualification onto the equivalent (or closest match) BSAC qualification. You can then take your training further using the BSAC system - again further details can be found by clicking the 'Cross-Overs' button on the left.

As a BSAC member you are also able to attend specialised Skill Development courses. These courses ranging from First aid skills to Boat Handling skills and more, are either run within the region or within the club. So if you are interested in a specific type of diving or diving skill, then these courses will be for you - click the 'Skill Development' button on the left for more detail.

Finally, you may be interested in sharing your knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm in the sport of diving to others. If so, you may want to consider becoming an instructor. Training within BSAC branches is undertaken, normally 'free-of-charge' by 'volunteer' instructors who have attended nationally run courses and examinations to enable them to become an instructor. By becoming an instructor, you have the chance to 'repay' your instruction to newer, less experienced divers. Clicking on the 'Instructor Training' button will give you a better insight into becoming an instructor.

Finally, the 'Instructor Team' button lets you see the current Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club instructor team in their full glory.
