A Welcome from the Chair
Hello, and welcome to the website of Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club!
If you've made it this far, then you must be interested in the underwater world and with the activity of SCUBA diving. SCUBA diving is a sport for all - there are few limitations on those who can take part. The ability to be confident in, and around, water is obviously useful as is the ability to swim, although you do not need to be an Olympic swimmer!
There is a minimum age limit (14 for our club), but no upper limit. Membership is open to all, providing that you are in reasonable health. You will be asked to complete a brief medical self-declaration form when you join.
We are able to train our members from being a complete beginner all the way up to being an experienced, fully trained Advanced Diver. All training done within the club is given under the watchful eyes of our team of Nationally Qualified Instructors. Instruction is given free-of-charge - only training packs and some equipment hire are at the members own expense. Divers are trained under the British Sub-Aqua Club's widely acclaimed Diver Training Programme. This is a programme devised by the British Sub-Aqua Club to train divers to dive within UK (and worldwide!) waters and conditions. The training programme is therefore planned and risk assessed with the safety of all concerned being paramount.
If you are already a qualified diver, irrespective of training agency, then we can offer you a regular diving programme which should keep you fully active year round. During the main diving season we run two dedicated dive weekends per month, and during the short closed season, there are still training opportunities and fun days every month. We can also continue your training within the British Sub-Aqua Club's training programme which now extends to mixed-gas and rebreather diving courses.
Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club is an affiliated branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club, the governing body for the sport of Sub-Aqua Diving in the UK. As such members need to join the British Sub Aqua Club, but in return they receive the benefit of belonging to the world's largest diving club.
Anyway, enough from me! Please take a look around the rest of the site and see what we can offer. If you have any queries about Saddleworth Sub-Aqua Club, the British Sub-Aqua Club or diving in general, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
I look forward to welcoming you into the club shortly.
